Is it cold today or what?
I woke up to do my meditation and morning rituals only to find that even the heater couldn’t keep me warm.
Brrrr…
My hands are stiff as I write this and I think I’ll go out and buy a pair of gloves before I get started at work tomorrow (or at least find the ones I lost).
Now business can feel cold sometimes too, can’t it?
Especially when you are dealing with cash-flow or staffing problems.
But there’s one thing which almost always makes it warm: deciding to take the right road in your business and focus on the right areas.
You have two options in business. You can see everything as equal. You can take the road of viewing accounts, management, marketing, etc as equal.
Or you can take another road, which every successful business owner I know who seems to have a magic touch for being able to generate income at will follows.
It isn’t seeing yourself as the managing director.
It isn’t seeing yourself as the accounts expert.
It isn’t even seeing yourself as the salesman.
It’s deciding to make your number one outcome to be the CMO…
Or Chief Marketing Officer.
That’s right.
They place a high value on marketing and doing what needs to be done to keep the cash-register ringing.
Not every business owner does.
And I think there are a lot of big, dumb companies out there where they see marketing as just another function in the business.
But that’s crazy.
Marketing turns everything.
Why?
Because nothing happens until somebody sells something.
And without marketing, the accounts… the manufacturing… the administration… all of these accounts mean nothing.
And when you master the art of marketing, all of your problems disappear.
Think about it. Think of every problem you have right now in your business…
Could it not be solved if you had more dollars flowing through the door?
And the best way to get the dollars flowing through the door… the only way to control it…
is via marketing.
Sadly, in many organisations, the marketing guys will come up with an idea…
Let’s say to handwrite on all of the envelopes. Or to put little post-it notes on the letters.
And it will be squashed because administration cannot do it… or it’s too difficult… or whatever.
That wouldn’t happen if the head of the company placed a higher value on marketing.
So make the decision today to become the Chief Marketing Officer and make that your number one priority.
