Most of us have an excuse which holds us back.

You know the ones…

Not enough money…

Not enough time…

Can’t get the right people…

Yada. Yada. Yada.

But if they were real barriers then nobody who was busy or broke would achieve success, would they?

So what is it then, that really determines our level of success?

It can only be one thing…

Our Habits.

That’s right.

For instance, while I work really hard and have achieved a certain level of success personally which I could only dream of several  years ago…

My biggest issue I will talk to my wife about is not having enough time.

But let’s face it…

I have the same amount of time as Bill Gates and Richard Branson. Donald Trump and Steve Jobs.

And so do you.

But I’ve got certain habits which I need to change.

Probably my biggest habit is spending too much time building up other people’s businesses and not my own.

I also did not grow up rich, so there’s probably a habitual thinking pattern back  there which I need to overcome which puts a cap on how much I can earn.

Man, writing about this is therapeutic because I learn along with you ;-)

Ok, let’s look at a few other habits which could be holding me back…

The habit of taking too much time working in my business and not enough time working on my business.

The habit of having a messy office and not being able to think as clearly as  I could.

The habit of not designating must time to create products and spend time on my own personal marketing.

Sure, I have a lot of good habits too.

I write this email every day and it brings in income. I read sales copy every day. I read books every day. I listen to CD’s on my way to and from work. I write copy at a set time every day. I have my vitamins. I wake up pretty early.

But then I have a meditation and go back to sleep sometimes.

I do my social media posts at http://www.twitter.com/scottbywater

and http://www.facebook.com/scottbywater every week.

Having written this, one thing I have realised is I need to start to spend more time creating products and making my service more agency based.

So if you think you’re a good direct response copywriter, reply to this email with some of your samples and why you think you could work well with me.

I can’t promise a response. But if I think there is a goodmatch, I will be in touch.

I’ve also realised I need to get more products out there which can help business owners, so keep your eye out for a  special offer on a phenomenal internet  marketing product I have created.

There should be more information about that over the next week.

Anyway, hope you got something out my own “habit therapy” session (who needs a therapist when you can write an email to 7,500 people every day ;-)

I encourage you to hop down to your local coffee shop today, draw a line down the middle of the page. And on one side write good habits, the other side write bad habits.

It’s a powerful process. And if one of your bad habits turns out to being not spending enough time and taking enough  action to master the art of getting  more customers, then you really should check out

    Hi Scott

I like your blog layout, could you please tell me the name of your design or designer.

Sometimes I also write about prioritising and good work habits (another copywriter), but I still enjoy learning so much that not all my habits are effective. When is it distraction and when is it education?
