Yesterday I had a tooth extracted.

It hurt. In fact, my jaw is still throbbing as a result.

And  I was walking around like a zombie before taking a pain killer last night.

Anyway, the worst part about all this is it was avoidable.

You see, I had a root canal a month or two back. Went in for three session (fun, fun, fun) and at the end of it my tooth was back in place.

The dentist recommended getting a crown as the tooth was still brittle.

I thought to myself “yeah, it’ll be all right. I’ll get to that.”

A month or two later, I am chewing my lunch when…

CRUNCH…

The tooth cracks… and I’m past the point of no return.

It sucks.

It’s kind of like not backing up the data on your computer because you don’t have time.

And then… kaboom… your computer crashes (as almost happened to me several years ago) and all your data goes up in a cloud of smoke.

The point I am making is…

Don’t put off the important just because it’s not urgent.

Don’t put off doing the things which can protect your health & protect your business because you’re too busy.

For instance…

Many business owners put off looking at their marketing…
relying on one or two big clients or distribution chains until one day…

BANG…

they disappear in a puff of smoke.

Don’t do it to yourself.

The best way to protect your business is to always… always … be marketing.

Always.

And never, ever rely on one channel.

Use joint ventures… newspaper ads… the internet…  social media… direct mail… letters to get existing customers back… google adwords… search engine optimisation… public relations… article marketing… and everything you can to protect your business and make it as solid as a rock.
