Human beings – myself included – are complex creatures.

And at the end of the day we are emotional beings who  have many personalities which play out on a day to day basis.

For instance, I come across relaxed to my family and friends (the laid back guy) when in fact I am very intense on the  inside.

My mind never stops.

I am always thinking… thinking… thinking.

And I have a number of personalities I go through on a  week to week basis.

I can be friendly. I can be grumpy. I can be stressed out. I can be rude. I can be courteous.

As I said before, we are all complex beings.

And one of the things I notice within myself (and since I’ve noticed it in myself I’ve also noticed it in others) is the lately is the inner personality of the MASTER and the slave.

What the heck are you on about Bywater?

The master and the slave. What sort of nonsense is this?

Let me take a moment to explain.

I get up early… I work hard… I put pressure on myself to  finish a days work… and at the end of the day I often don’t feel as if I have done enough.

Here’s my point: my inner master is constantly pushing my  inner slave to do more… more… more… and more still.

But it’s never, ever good enough.

And I’ve become more and more conscious of this little interplay over the last couple of months.

Of course, some would say that if we didn’t push ourselves  then nothing would ever get done.

But the reality is if we started to notice what we were doing and  acknowledge ourselves for our achievements, we would probably get far, far, far more done.

Think about it: how do you treat a child?

Do you criticise them when they start crawling… when they start walking… when they utter their first words?

Of course not.

That would kill their spirit.

Instead, you encourage them.

And as a result of this encouragement, their confidence improves and they are able to grow and develop.

So I encourage everyone today (myself included) to become  conscious of the master / slave dynamic…

Breathe…

Relax…

Centre…

And give yourself a pat on the back for everything you have achieved to date.

The fact you are reading this tells me you are quite a heroic person.

You have the courage to think outside the box. You’ve had the courage to leave (or consider leaving) the safe harbours of the shore in order to “sail the high seas” of entrepreneurship where your only security is your own ability.

Now obviously you can increase your ability to navigate the choppy oceans by getting your hands on http://www.morecustomersmadeeasy.com and
gaining the skills to get to your destination faster.

That being said, no matter how fast you are going, the key is to enjoy the journey. So let’s encourage ourselves and each other today rather than beating ourselves up and being our own worst enemy.
