One of the things my family and I often do on a Saturday morning is go to the library.
I’ve always been a big lover of reading and since libraries have become so “hip” (they have in my area anyway), I like the idea of exposing my toddler to books.
Anyway, afterwards we go and have a cup of coffee at the coffee shop outside.
And we get talking to the coffee shop owner.
Interesting thing is this guy owns a guard dog business.
And he’s telling us all of these stories about how a guard dog can sniff an intruder from miles away if they are protecting the Botanical
Gardens or whatever.
And how if they are a family dog, they will know when you need protection.
It was really a fascinating discussion.
But then he told me how much a guard dog was worth – about $15,000.
Why?
Because they had invested the time and money into training them and that made them worth far more than the average dog.
Seems to me, dog or human, there’s not much difference.
Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants, etc. get paid more than a cleaner or labourer because they have put the hard yards in to train themselves.
But these professionals have capped salaries.

And if you invest in continual education and implement what you learn, you can be rewarded far more handsomely than most doctors, lawyers… and guard dogs
