A few months ago, I was at my sons third birthday party when my brother in law asked me “So how do you come up with all of these great ideas for your emails” so I thought I would take a moment to answer that question now…

… because whether you are writing emails or just need to come up with some great ideas for your business, the concept is much the same.

The first step is creating an outcome: i.e. I want to send emails on a daily basis.

For you, it might be I want to get more customers. I want to increase the results of my newspaper ad, I want to get more leads from my web site or whatever.

And guess what happens as soon as you do that?

There’s this little thing called your Reticular Activating System which goes to work.
Now I learnt about the Reticular Activating System when I did a course called “Alpha Dyamics” when I was about 13 or 14.

And it kinda works like this.

You decide you want a car – let’s say a little Honda Civic – and while you have never noticed these cars before, now they are everywhere.

Well, that’s what happened the day I decided to write regular emails.

I set an outcome. And my subconscious mind started finding ideas everywhere.

For instance, this weekend I was reading a copy of “The Week” and found several clever ideas for emails almost instantly.

I found another idea while reading the Sydney Morning Herald.

And there was another idea which came to me while looking through a Vogue Living Magazine.

Ideas come to me while I am watching movies… talking to my wife or with friends… or just while I’m in the shower or walking to work.

But the key to getting great ideas is first deciding on what you want to do.

And once you are clear on your outcome, you’ll be amazed at how life throws exactly what you need at you to allow you to achieve it.

For instance, right now you might just be after more customers. And maybe… just maybe… http://www.morecustomersmadeeasy.com is exactly what you need to make this happen ;-)
